Hi,
"Configuration for Tomcat versions 5.5 and above" show how to configure all primerose pool via the modification of tomcat server's main configuration file (ie server.xml).
But sometimes you can not modify this file, so is it possible to transfert/convert this example into an "application configuration files" (ie via web.xml and/or context.xml files) ?

Yes,
Put the recommended configuration in META-INF/context.xml within tag.
e.g.,
